To quickly recap, the Hamildrops series is a monthly release of Hamilton-inspired content, started by Miranda late last year. This time, the widely successful Broadway star of Hamilton enlisted the help of actor and singer Ben Platt in a March For Our Lives-inspired track, “Found/Tonight.” This week, a letter penned by former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama to the Parkland shooting survivors was shared on Twitter via Mic, where they expressed how they feel “inspired” by the students’ activism and commend their “awakening the conscience of our nation.Your long and arduous wait is over: The latest installment in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamildrops series is here. Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, Jeffrey and Marilyn Katzenberg, George and Amal Clooney, and Oprah Winfrey have also each donated $500,000 to support the cause. Platt and Miranda also join other stars expected to attend some of the rallies around the country this weekend such as Jimmy Fallon, Samantha Bee, Amy Schumer, Yara Shahidi, Connie Britton, Olivia Wilde and Skai Jackson. Miranda and Platt join previously announced performers Common, Miley Cyrus, Andra Day, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Demi Lovato and Vic Mensa, along with other surprise guests.
